Fes to Marrakech Via Merzouga Desert tour 3 Days

Fes desert tours to Marrakech. We are going to leave Fes at 7:30 AM and head to another part of Morocco, the South East. Crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop for a short break in Ifrane or small Switzerland where is the first ski resort in Morocco. We will be surrounded by amazing sceneries and landscapes of mountains and plains. A special species of native monkeys living in cedar woods, over 30 members in one family called Maggot monkeys near Azrou. We will have a lunch break in Midelt, it celebrates the festival of apples every year. There is a big contrast of landscapes especially when we drive through Ziz Valley to get us to Arfoud, the gate of the Sahara, to Merzouga. You will enjoy the sunset on the way to the Berber camp on the camelback in Erg Chebbi with fascinating reddish dunes up 150 m high. Overnight Berber camp.

After your breakfast, we leave the Sahara and head towards the old underground system of irrigation that is still used in the oasis of Eljerf to save as much as possible of water from vaporization. A break on the way in Tinjidad. We will have lunch in the Valley of Toudra. It is considered one of the oldest valleys in Morocco for caravan trading and where the first Moroccan money was made out of silver. A beautiful valley of 15 km of date palms ends up with a spectacular Gorges, mainly used for rock climbing and where Local picnic in summer days. We embark on Dades Valley which has an astonishing rock formation made by million years of erosion. We spend the night in a nice Local hotel by the river of Dades and surrounded by high mountains. Overnight in Dades Valley.

Last day we will carry on to Valley of Roses, the only place in Morocco where we harvest Damascus rose of which we extract some products like rose water and rose oil best for skin treatment and anti-wrinkles. We drive through, Skoura, an old oasis of thousands of palm groves and ancient Berber Kasbahs forts. Then, we head to Ait Ben Haddou village we will go for a walk to visit this ancient village. An old village where a list of movie credits was made starting with the first movies “Lawrence of Arabia”, ”Jesus of Nazareth”, ”Gladiator” and the list is still going. It is also listed in UNESCO as a site of world heritage and national culture in 1987. We cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka (2260 m). A spectacular windy road to Marrakech. End of tour.
